Players flock to Barnsley's defence Three signings in one week has completely changed Mark Robins' options in defence. With Bobby Hassell and Darren Moore struggling with injury and Luke Potter also out the back four line was of great concern.
This has prompted Robins to draft Suad Filekovic from Slovenia and Stoke City pair Carl Dickinson and Ryan Shotton into Barnsley.
Shotton has come up through Stoke City's youth set up. The 20-year-old spent a season on loan at Altrincham during 2007/2008, making 36 appearances. He also spent last season at Tranmere Rovers, where he impressed during 39 games for at Prenton Park.
Dickinson is now spending a fourth spell on loan having played previously for Icelandic side Viking, Blackpool and Leeds United.
The 22-year old left back played a pivotal role in Stoke City's promotion winning campaign two seasons ago.
His only appearance for the Club this season came during the 1-0 Carling Cup 2nd round victory against Leyton Orient last month.
Shotton and Dickinson are eligible to feature for Barnsley this weekend against Queens Park Rangers in the Coca-Cola Championship.
