I wasn't going to miss another chance to come here New boss Mark Robins met the press for the first time and revealed that he wasn't about to miss joining Barnsley at the second time.
Asked why he chose to come to Barnsley he said:"First and foremost this gives me a chance to manage in the Championship. When Barnsley were told they could approach me I started to do some homework and I wouldn't be here now if I didn't think I could turn things around here with what we have.
"There are only five games of the season gone and we still have 41 games in the Championship season. If I didn't think the players here were capable of doing it you would see me sitting here today.
"There are some excellent players here and we just need to change things around.
"It's not too dissimiliar from last season for me. I am used to having a points deficit and we are nearly in that sort of position now. I am looking forward to getting some on the board quickly and rise up the table.
"There is a good group of players and they want to improve. It's about the players being able to perform what I am asking them to do. If they can do that then there is not a problem. Simon has put a decent squad of players together."
Players not unfamiliar
"I was kicked all over the place by Darren Moore when I was a player, I know Andy Gray and I know a lot about the players. I have come across quite a few of the players here when I played Championship football.
"The goalkeeper situation is something I will need to consider. David Preece will be looking to take his opportunity, but I have a few days to think about it.
"The players are in very good mood. They have been enthusiastic and show what they can do, but I have had to calm them down a bit before there are too many injuries.
"Short term we need to get some points on the table. Once you do that the players get their confidence built up and will buy into what you want to do. They already have started to do that the the training and methods we employ.
"I don't think there is any more difficult challenge than managing through administration and trying to motivate people who don't know even if they will be paid, so here I am coming into a stable club, one that is in a decent position with 41 games left.
"I have got the right people in place with me and I may be looking to appoint a chief scout down the line, but at the moment the focus is for the game at the weekend."
Rolling Contract
Barnsley FC Director, Don Rowing, revealed that Mark Robins has signed a rolling contract and Mark Robins is more than happy with that.
"I don't think length of contract makes any difference. It is about the ability to do the job and the tools you have to do it. If those two are right and you have a little bit of luck along the way then you have a fighting chance."
Second Chance to Join Barnsley
"I didn't expect to get an opportunity to speak to the Club. I had an opportunity to play for Barnsley and I was looking forward to coming to play and the deal was more or less done, but I ended up playing for Danny Wilson at Bristol. I wasn't going to turn the second opportunity to come here."
