Norwich City U18 2-0 Barnsley U18 It was a long trip for Barnsley Academy's latest match to face the Canaries on their own turf and Barnsley went within five minutes of securing a draw.
In those final few minutes Norwich grabbed two goals to put a completely different complexion on the result.
Norwich did have a one-on-one opportunity in the very first minute when Danny Kelly went clear, but Tom Ruslin was quick off his lines, narrowed the angle and cut of the route to goal.
A realively uneventful first half ended goaless with Barnsley restricted in their attempts at goal.
Tom Ruslin is proving himself to be a good keeper for Barnsley Academy and he was quickly brought into the action after the restart when Dawkin's shot was well saved.
Barnsley came close on the hour mark to a goal from a set piece, but the free kick curled just wide of the post.
Neither side dominated and it looked to be heading for a draw until Kelly fired his shot into the net after Francomb and Dawkin had provided good build up play.
And Kelly grabbed a brace three minutes later slotting the ball home in a one-on-one situation with Ruslin.
Barnsley nearly had a consolation goal when Jack Scott's goal bound header was cleared off the line.
