Malta lose to Hungary Hungary ran out 3-0 winners against Malta as they pushed for qualification for the World Cup. Malta have now gone seven games without a goal.
Michael Mifsud was very lively and played an attacking midfielder role with plenty of runs during the match. In frustration he was shown a yellow card and is now missing his next World Cup South Africa qualifier away match against Sweden in June. He had two good chances of which one was a powerful shot from outside the box which Fulop managed to parry into a corner.
Daniel Bogdanoic was played as a right winger and was threatening the Hungarian post on a couple of occasions. He had a cheesy chip missing the target by a whisker from a tight angle with Fulop beaten. He was more active in the second half when the whole team was pushing hard for the equaliser.
Hungary had scored an early goal and it was not until the 80th minute that they managed to grab a second and the third came in the last minute of the game.
Michael and Daniel will return to England on Friday and should be fine for the match on Saturday. |
