Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the 24-year-old started his career with Chilean side Santiago Wanderers before switching to La Liga outfit Racing Santander, where he made 38 appearances, netting two goals. He enjoyed time with Uruguayan club Montevideo before agreeing to join Everton in 2005 although problems with his work permit meant he was forced to return to Spain with Malaga on an extended loan for a season. He made 15 appearances for Malaga.
He finally joined up with Everton in late December 2006. Anderson made his Premiership debut on April 15, 2007 in a 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic when he replaced Mikel Arteta with just minutes remaining. A talented midfielder with an eye for goal, Anderson extended his stay at Oakwell for a second month in September 2007.
Anderson proved to be one of the best midfielders in the Championship with a string of impressive displays for the Reds after joining the Club permanently at the end of January 2008.
However, a serious knee injury at Norwich City in March 2008 ended his campaign early. |
