A forward with a proven Championship pedigree, Iain moved to Oakwell for a £1.2m fee as the Reds showed their intentions for the new campaign with a stunning deal for the Canadian international. Barnsley beat off competition from a host of clubs including Wolves, Sheffield United and Preston North End to land the striker. Iain has been a talisman for Leicester City since joining in 2005 and bagged eleven goals even though the Foxes slipped through the relegation trapdoor at the end of last season.
Born in Edinburgh, Iain started his career at Tranmere Rovers, becoming a folk hero at Prenton Park after making his debut as a 16-year-old. He went on to make 176 appearances in six years in the first team at Tranmere, hitting 37 goals. His move to Leicester City came in August 2005 when a fee of £750,000 temped Rovers to sell. He has been a regular for the Foxes ever since, clocking up 132 games and netting 34 goals. He made his international debut for Canada in 2003.
Iain has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Oakwell, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2011. |
